Draymond Green colorfully describes last season’s chemistry in contrast to this year’s Warriors

Published Sun, 23 Feb 2025 12:11:42 GMT

The Warriors have been showing such good chemistry in their 4-1 start that Draymond Green compared it to last year’s difficulty developing rapport.“Last year, we had an awful team as far as chemistry goes, it was pathetic,” Green told reporters after Wednesday night’s 102-101 win over the Kings, won on Klay Thompson’s final-second shot. “But chemistry has been a strong suit here. That’s why Steph (Curry) has been here for 15 years, Klay has been here for 13. I’ve been here for 12 and Loon (Kevon Looney) has been here for nine because chemistry is a strong suit — and Andre Iguodala. The list goes on and on.”Of course, Green was a key figure in the trouble last year, as he punched Jordan Poole during training camp practice coming off the prior year’s championship run.The team’s front office traded Poole for Chris Paul this offseason, which is already paying dividends with Paul leading a strong bench unit that has ...

Contra Costa County health officials link tuberculosis cases to casino

Published Sun, 23 Feb 2025 12:11:42 GMT

(KRON) -- Nearly a dozen cases of tuberculosis have been linked to a casino in Contra Costa County, public health officials announced Thursday. Anyone who spent time inside California Grand Casino in Pacheco within the past five years should take a TB test, according to Contra Costa Health Services (CCH)."Recent genetic testing revealed several related cases among staff and customers over the past five years," Contra Costa Health Services wrote. CCH has so far not identified an ongoing source of transmission at the casino. Tuberculosis bacteria can live inside a person for months or years without causing any symptoms, health officials said."We are making this recommendation now because there is new evidence that TB may have spread among people who spent time at the casino from 2018 to 2023," said Dr. Meera Sreenivasan, the county's deputy health officer. "TB can live inside someone for years without showing signs of its presence. That is why it’s important to take a test, even if yo...

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — At the bottom of the AFC standings and in the throes of his worst start since his first season in New England, Bill Belichick and the Patriots could have easily been sellers at the trade deadline. They weren’t. “We’re getting ready for Washington,” Belichick said this week regarding his team’s lack of trade activity. The Commanders (3-5) were open for business, dealing top pass rushers Chase Young and Montez Sweat in moves that stockpile draft picks for a rebuilding effort but do nothing to help them this season.Though, coach Ron Rivera also insisted they haven’t given up on the season. “It’s an opportunity to see what else we have,” Rivera said. “It’s an opportunity to go out and win football games using different guys.”One team will walk out of Sunday’s matchup feeling at least a little better about the remainder of the season. The Patriots (2-6) certainly could use a confidence boost coming off another humbling loss at Miami just a week after seemingly figu...

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Nigeria’s lawmakers on Thursday approved the new government’s first supplemental budget, which includes huge allocations for SUVs and houses for the president, his wife and other public officials, sparking anger and criticism from citizens in one of the world’s poorest countries. In the budget presented to lawmakers to supplement the country’s expenditures for 2023, the government had allocated about $38 million for the presidential air fleet, vehicles and for renovation of residential quarters for the office of the president, the vice-president and the president’s wife — even though her office is not recognized by the country’s constitution. Before the budget was approved, and facing increasing criticism, lawmakers eliminated $6.1 million earlier budgeted for a “presidential yacht” and moved it to “student loans.”A Nigerian presidential spokesman said President Bola Tinubu had not given approval for the yacht, whose allocation was provided under the ...
